I have been constipated most of my pregnancy. I never ever try to force it out. It eventually will come on its own.
I have however found that every single time I eat pasta within 3 hours I get a bowel movement.

Eat cereal with high fiber and flax, take fiber supplements, drink ALOT of water….I know whole grain bread has alot of fiber too. I know berries and apples can help you use the bathroom, but you have to eat quite alot. Hope this can help you. The first answerer, I found pastas helped too.

Honey, take Milk Of Magnesia. It's nasty, but it is safe for use during pregnancy. Also, whether you're constipated or not, take a docusate sodium (Colace) soft gel every night.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, and try to drink some Metamucil. Trust me. You WILL go.

29 weeks pregnant, and these are things that were approved by my doctor (who is conservative enough to make Rush Limbaugh look like Dennis Rodman).

I know this isn't really recomended but McDonald's always made me have to go when i got pregnant I tried to eat healthy so I cut it out of my diet but when I had the problem I would go and max out on some McDonald's sure enough and hour later I was RUNNING the bathroom. In all honesty prune juice may taste nasty but have one 6-8oz glass ever morning will really ease you. Believe those few seconds it takes to choke it down is alot better then holding it in for so long

    good luck.

The one thing that helped me was ditching cheese (save for goat cheese, which is actually _good_ for constipation) and (less of a problem) rice.

Warm applejuice at night? 'Double yuk.' Plus you're not getting all the fibre-y goodness if it's just juice. Eat a cold apple for breakfast…

And hit a bulk store and buy stuff like bran and flax, and dried fruit, and make muesli. Pretty tasty, as that stuff goes.
