I can't find out who invented it but I have learned that they use up to 60 litres of fluid in short bursts and it can feel warm and/or erotic !
Some people (no ideas !) also squirt small amounts of alcohol 'up there' as the effect is quicker if it goes straight to the colon !
Blimey !- I don't even like drinking straight out of the bottle,I always ask for a glass - but shoving it up my ar5e will never be an option !
BTW Sometimes they mix the warm water with coffee grounds
I'll stick to a few prunes ,thanks !

it was a medieval monk, Joseph of Enema who worked in the diocese of Constantipation

Jokes aside, it has been around since the time of the Greeks. The Naturopathic movement (ok,,one more joke) in the late 19th century is responsible for making all sorts of outrageous claims as to its "detoxyfying" and health inducing properties.

It is also a sexual fetish….but we won't go there.

I think it started as a yoga thing. They also do this thing where they swallow a long piece of muslin fabric with a bit still sticking out of their mouths, give their stomach a churn and pull it back out. It's supposed to clean the acids out of your stomach, not for the faint hearted,
